Surpass Introduces Developer Plan
Surpass Hosting, a leading provider of Shared, Reseller, Dedicated and Virtual Private Server hosting solutions with over 30,000 customers, today introduced its long-awaited Developer hosting plan, loaded with more than a dozen development frameworks and a wide variety of key tools for web developers.
Starting at just $15 per month, the Developer plan offers 1000GB of disk space, unmetered monthly data transfer, and the ability to host up to 5 domain names. It also includes a free private IP address, unlimited shell access, a dedicated SSL certificate, and access to several pre-loaded software revision control systems (currently Subversion, Git, and Concurrent Versions System).
The Developer plan is the first Surpass Hosting plan to fully support Ruby on Rails as deployed using mod_ruby and Phusion Passenger (mod_rails) in conjunction to create a stable and functional environment for Ruby on Rails development.
Surpass Hosting Developer Tools, a core component of the Developer plan, enables users to install on-demand more than a dozen development frameworks. These include Ruby on Rails, jQuery, CakePHP, Blueprint CSS, Dojo Toolkit, Ext JS, MooTools, Prototype, Scriptaculous, CodeIgniter, Doctrine, Smarty, Symfony, and Zend Framework. Each framework is automatically updated each night from the repository trunk to keep the code up to date. Ultimately, it saves developers time.

All shared hosting plans -- including the Developer plan -- are hosted on servers powered by Quad-Core technology and housed in the company's private Orlando, Fla. data center. The 12,000 square feet data facility offers more than 32 gigabits of network backbone capacity and is constructed with concrete masonry perimeter walls capable of resisting Category 5 storms.
